Acer palmatum Skeeters Broom

DECIDUOUS. Is a compact, narrow, upright Japanese maple descended as a mutation from the popular 'Bloodgood' cultivar. Its deeply divided, palmate leaves emerge a brilliant bright red in spring, mature to a rich burgundy-maroon during summer, and ignite into fire-engine scarlet before dropping in autumn. Highly heat-tolerant, its columnar habit makes it perfect for tight borders and patio containers.

MATURE SIZE: 2-2.5m tall x 1-1.5m wide.

POSITION: Part shade. Protect from hot afternoon sun.
